Frontier: Unreal Tournament
The Project
Frontier is a capture the flag map designed for 3v3 combat in Unreal Tournament.

The map was designed as a space station, prioritized in storing and harvesting crops for the population of Earth

The map offers several lanes of play, including different elevations, for players to explore.
The Process
The map is symmetrical in nature, offering a similar path for players to navigate to the other team's base.

The different weapon spawns have been placed in according to where players will spawn, giving each team an equal advantage to obtain.

Special items and weapons have been placed in the centre of the map, giving the teams a secondary objective to obtain.

Reflection
Creating a team based multiplayer map, even when kept symmetrical, is quite a challenge. It was a hurdle on its own to try to make all lanes of play have purpose and feel like a meaningful choice to follow. I learned a lot about different sight lines and advantage points that players can take advantage of if given the opportunity. It was great to watch players use the different height elevations in creative ways, which inspired me to add more paths to reach those advantage points for other players. Overall, it was a great experience to understand and appreciate what goes into a well thought multiplayer CTF map.
